The tuberculum sellae is a bony prominence of the sphenoid bone in the middle cranial fossa as the anterior boundary of the sella turcica.

Anatomy

The tuberculum sellae is bordered anteriorly by the transverse sulcus chiasmatis for the optic chiasm. Dorsally, it is contiguous with the hypophyseal fossa. Laterally on both sides, a small bony prominence follows, the middle clinoid process[^1].
