The amygdala (corpus amygdaloideum) is a nuclear region of the telencephalon.

Anatomy

The amygdala is located in the medial part of the temporal lobe, rostral to the inferior horn of the lateral ventricles, and is part of the limbic system.

Blood supply

The vascular supply of the amygdala is provided by branches of the anterior choroidal artery, internal carotid artery, middle cerebral artery, and branches of the posterior cerebral artery1.
