Classification according to Adams

The Adams classification was established in 1989 based on histopathological specimens and classifies diffuse axonal injuries (DAI) in patients with a Traumatic brain injury into the following three distinct grades[^1]:

Lesion in the white matter of the cerebral hemispheres

II

Lesion in the Corpus callosum

III

In addition to the lesion in the corpus callosum, there is a lesion in the rostral Brainstem
