The trapezoid body is an anatomical structure in the region of the Pons and part of the Auditory pathway.
Anatomy
Macroscopically, the trapezoid body can be identified as a delicate bulge formed by the fibers of the Lateral lemniscus crossing to the contralateral side. The internally located nuclei of the trapezoid body form its origin. As part of the indirect auditory pathway, the trapezoid body connects the two Ventral cochlear nuclei. The fibers of the trapezoid body extend from the ventral cochlear nucleus to the Superior olivary complex.
