Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The superior olivary nucleus is a complex of nuclei in the medulla oblongata and a central component of the auditory pathway.

Function

The superior olivary nucleus plays a crucial role in processing acoustic stimuli, particularly in sound localization. The nucleus complex is referred to as the superior olivary complex and is closely associated with the ventrally adjacent trapezoid body, whose nuclei also belong to this complex.
