Obstructive hydrocephalus, also referred to as noncommunicating hydrocephalus, is a disorder of cerebrospinal fluid circulation. Obstructive hydrocephalus results from a mechanical obstruction to the outflow of Cerebrospinal fluid and consequently leads to enlargement of the internal cerebrospinal fluid spaces.
Etiology
The causes of obstructive hydrocephalus are diverse; common causes include intraventricular tumors, cysts, hemorrhages, or Aqueductal stenosis.
