The term intra-axial is an anatomical and imaging location designation and is defined as a process that is located within the brain tissue.

Examples

The glioblastoma is, for example, a typically intra-axial located brain tumor.

Other examples of intra-axial lesions:

• astrocytoma

• primary CNS lymphoma

• ganglioglioma

• oligodendroglioma

• cerebral metastases

• abscess

• intracerebral hemorrhage
