Commissural fibers are nerve fibers of the white matter of the brain that connect corresponding or functionally related areas of both hemispheres with one another. Commissural fibers ensure interhemispheric information exchange and enable the integration of sensory, motor, and cognitive functions. Together with association and projection fibers, they form the three main groups of cerebral fiber tracts[^1].
