Cisterna ambiens

The Cisterna ambiens is a cerebrospinal fluid filled cistern of the brain and part of the subarachnoid space.

Anatomy

The Cisterna ambiens surrounds the midbrain dorsolaterally. In the Cisterna ambiens run the posterior cerebral artery, superior cerebellar artery, basal vein and the trochlear nerve[^2].

Pathologies in the Cisterna ambiens

In very rare cases, individual cases of symptomatic cysts in the region of the Cisterna ambiens have been described in the literature[^1] [^3] [^4].
