The ETV Success Score (ETVSS)[^2] is a validated[^1] score for predicting the success rate of an Endoscopic third ventriculostomy.
ETV Score
Points | Age | Etiology | Previous shunt |
0 | <1 month | postinfectious | Yes |
10 | 1 month to 6 months | n\/a | No |
20 | n\/a | Myelomeningocele, intraventricular hemorrhage, nontectal Brain tumor | n\/a |
30 | 6 months to 1 year | Aqueductal stenosis, tectal brain tumor, other | n\/a |
40 | 1 year to <10 years | n\/a | n\/a |
50 | ≥ 10 years | n\/a | n\/a |
To calculate the ETVSS, the points for age, etiology, and previous shunt are added together. The calculated score indicates the probability, in %, that the performed endoscopic third ventriculostomy will still be successful after 6 months. For example, an ETVSS of 80 points indicates an 80% chance that the endoscopic third ventriculostomy will be successful after 6 months[^2].
