The Rescue ICP study was published in 2016 and investigated outcomes following decompressive hemicraniectomy in patients with trauma-related, treatment-refractory elevated intracranial pressure1.

In summary, the study demonstrated reduced mortality in the decompressive hemicraniectomy group, as well as an increased number of patients with poor outcomes. The number of patients with good recovery and moderate disability was similar in the surgical and conservative groups2.
