The superior anastomotic vein (vein of Trolard) is a superficial cerebral vein. The superior anastomotic vein connects the superficial middle cerebral vein with the Superior sagittal sinus and thus drains venous blood from the region of the Sylvian fissure.
Anatomy
The superior anastomotic vein is the largest anastomotic vein, running along the cortical surface of the Frontal lobe and parietal lobe. The superior anastomotic vein usually drains into the superior sagittal sinus in an anterior direction, against the venous blood flow[^1]. The superior anastomotic vein may also be duplicated as an anatomical variant[^1].
