Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The pericallosal artery is a branch of the anterior cerebral artery.

Anatomy

Course

The pericallosal artery runs in the cisterna laminae terminalis and then between the two hemispheres in the interhemispheric fissure above the corpus callosum. It runs around the genu of the corpus callosum and then posteriorly along the corpus callosum[^1].

Size

The average diameter of the pericallosal artery is approximately 2.9 mm on the right side and approximately 2.5 mm on the left side at the origin[^1].

Vascular Supply

The branches of the pericallosal artery are primarily responsible for supplying the corpus callosum, the cingulate gyrus and the medial surface of the parietal lobe[^1].
