Glioblastomas are diffusely infiltrating, high-grade gliomas that arise from the dedifferentiation of astrocytes. Glioblastomas are the most common primary brain neoplasms. Glioblastomas develop through the proliferation of astrocytes and therefore belong to the group of astrocytomas. Depending on the patient’s age and molecular pathological markers, the current standard of treatment is surgical resection followed by radiation therapy and chemotherapy with Temozolomide. A methylated MGMT promoter has a favorable prognostic effect due to the greater efficacy of Temozolomide.
