Foramen transversarium

The foramina transversaria are bilateral bony openings in the Transverse process of the seven cervical vertebrae.

Variations

The foramen transversarium may be duplicated on one side in approximately 13.72 % of cases and may occur bilaterally in duplicate in approximately 6.86 % of cases [^1]. A triplicate foramen transversarium was observed in 0.98 % of the population [^1]

Dimensions

The average size of the foramina transversaria is 6.49 mm x 5.74 mm on the right and 6.65 x 5.76 mm on the left.
