Clipping

The term clipping describes a neurosurgical procedure in which Aneurysms are treated by means of an open microsurgical operation. In this procedure, a clip is placed on the aneurysm, thereby excluding it from the circulation.

Training

The learning curve for mastering aneurysm clipping is steep, and due to the increasing use of endovascular treatment of aneurysms, the number of surgically treated aneurysms has declined significantly over the past decades. New approaches such as virtual reality and training simulators offer new training opportunities to address these challenges[^2].

Temporary Clipping

Temporary clips are occasionally used to gain control in the event of an intraoperative aneurysm rupture, or more frequently to complete aneurysm dissection and prepare the aneurysm for permanent clipping[^1].
