Adenosine is a nucleoside. It is a compound of adenine and ribose that is found in nearly all cells of the body.

Neurosurgical relevance

In some cases, adenosine is used in vascular neurosurgery during the Clipping of Aneurysms to achieve transient asystole and thereby briefly reduce intracranial blood flow[^1].
