Sacral fractures can be divided into 3 different zones according to Gibbons, depending on the morphological course of the fracture [^1].

Zone I

Fracture passes through the sacral ala without involvement of the central canal or the foramina

Zone II

Fracture runs through the foramina without involvement of the central canal

Zone III

Transverse fracture with involvement of the central canal
