The ASA classification is a worldwide system developed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists for the preoperative assessment of patients’ physical status and risk[^1].

Healthy patient

ASA 2

Patient with a minor disease without limitations

ASA 3

Patient with a disease causing significant impairment

ASA 4

Patient with a life-threatening disease

ASA 5

Moribund patient who is unlikely to survive without the operation

ASA 6

Deceased patient with confirmed brain death, organ donor
