TERT Promoter Mutation

The TERT promoter regulates the expression of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT). Mutations in the TERT promoter are significantly more frequent in primary (often IDH1 wild-type) glioblastomas than in secondary (often IDH1-mutated) glioblastomas.

Clinical relevance

TERT promoter mutations show an inverse correlation with IDH1 mutations[^1] and are associated with poorer survival in Glioblastomas .
