Stupor

Stupor is a severe form of quantitative impairment of consciousness from which the patient can only be awakened by painful stimuli or can demonstrate responsiveness, without reaching a fully awake state (e.g., defensive movements while the eyes remain closed). If the impairment of consciousness worsens, stupor progresses to coma.
