Status cribrosus

Synonyms: État criblé, cribriform state

Status cribrosus refers to an enlargement of the perivascular spaces (Virchow–Robin spaces) that indicates perivascular parenchymal loss in the context of cerebral atrophy and is not due to vascular occlusion, in contrast to lacunar infarcts[^1].

Imaging

Status cribrosus can be visualized on MRI imaging[^2].
