Stalk Effect

Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The stalk effect is associated with a mild elevation of prolactin levels.

Pathophysiology

Damage to or compression of the Hypothalamus or Pituitary stalk interrupts the feedback loop regulating prolactin production, resulting in a laboratory-confirmed elevation of prolactin levels[^1].
