Scaphocephaly is the most common form of craniosynostosis, in which premature ossification of the cranial sutures occurs. In scaphocephaly, premature ossification of the sagittal suture occurs, resulting in an elongated, narrow skull shape with a high forehead.
Epidemiology
Scaphocephaly occurs with an incidence of approximately 2-10 per 10,000 live births1. Scaphocephaly accounts for approximately 55-64% of all surgically treated cases of craniosynostosis2.
