Saccular aneurysm

The term saccular aneurysm is used to describe an aneurysm based on its angioarchitecture1. Saccular aneurysms are defined by a balloon-like dilation of an artery. Saccular aneurysms can be divided into three subgroups and account for approximately 95% of all intracerebral aneurysms2:

  • No branching vessel
  • Associated branching vessel
  • Bifurcation aneurysm
