The precentral sulcus is a sulcus, which runs parallel and anterior to the central sulcus.
Anatomy
The precentral sulcus separates the precentral gyrus from the inferior frontal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus and superior frontal gyrus. In most cases, the precentral sulcus is divided into two parts, a superior precentral sulcus and an inferior precentral sulcus. However, it may also be present as a continuous sulcus. The artery of the precentral sulcus, which is a branch of the middle cerebral artery runs within the precentral sulcus.
