Pineocytoma

Pineocytoma is a rare but benign tumor (WHO Grade 1) arising from the parenchymal cells of the Pineal gland[^1].

Epidemiology

Pineocytomas account for approximately 0.4-1 % of all intracranial tumors[^1].

Prognosis

Due to the rarity of pineocytomas, there are limited data on patients with this tumor. Current literature suggests that patients who undergo total tumor resection have better tumor control than patients who undergo subtotal resection combined with radiotherapy[^2].

Imaging

MRI is the gold standard for imaging pineocytomas.
