Nucleus interpositus

The nucleus interpositus is a nuclear region in the Cerebellum, which consists of two parts.

Anatomy

The posterior nucleus interpositus corresponds to the Nucleus globosus, while the anterior nucleus interpositus corresponds to the Nucleus emboliformis. The nucleus interpositus is located in the roof of the fourth ventricle.

Afferents

The nucleus interpositus receives afferents from the anterior lobe of the cerebellum.

Efferents

The efferents of the nucleus interpositus travel via the Superior cerebellar peduncle to the Red nucleus.
