Nucleus ruber

The nucleus ruber is located in the mesencephalon and is an important relay center in the motor system. The nucleus ruber serves as a relay and control center for cerebellar, pallidal, and corticospinal motor impulses and is important for muscle tone, posture, and gait[^1].

Anatomy

The nucleus ruber projects via its efferent fibers to the Spinal cord and thereby contributes an important component of the extrapyramidal motor system.

Function

The nucleus ruber exerts an important modulatory influence on both the extrapyramidal and pyramidal motor systems of the contralateral half of the body.
