De-airing maneuver

The term de-airing maneuver is used in neurosurgery to describe filling the resection cavity and subdural space with irrigation fluid. Performing a de-airing maneuver at the end of surgery minimizes the intracranial air volume to prevent postoperative pneumocephalus.
