The cisterna olfactoria is a paired Cistern of the brain and is filled with Cerebrospinal fluid.
Anatomy
The cisterna olfactoria is paired and bilaterally surrounds the olfactory bulb and olfactory tract, and is located in the superficial portion of the Olfactory sulcus, which separates the Gyrus rectus from the gyrus orbitalis. The cisterna olfactoria extends longitudinally in an anteroposterior direction, beginning in the region of the tentorium olfactorium and extending to the trigonum olfactorium. In the coronal section, the cisterna olfactoria has a triangular shape[^1] [^2].
