Choroid plexus carcinomas are tumors that arise from the Choroid plexus and most commonly occur in the Lateral ventricle.
Classification
Choroid plexus carcinomas are the most aggressive subtype of choroid plexus tumors and are classified as WHO Grade 3 Brain Tumors[^3].
Treatment
The primary treatment strategy is surgical removal. Some patients benefit from chemotherapy[^2].
Additional Radiotherapy did not demonstrate prolonged survival after surgical resection[^1].
Prognosis
Time period | Progression-free interval[^1] | Survival time[^1] |
3 years | 58 % | 83 % |
5 years | 38 % | 62 % |
The absence of a TP53 mutation is associated with improved survival[^1].
