The Chater point was described in 1976 by Chater and Spetzler[^2] [^1].
Clinical Relevance
The Chater point can be used as an aid in the planning of an EC-IC bypass. A craniotomy at the Chater point reliably exposes the vessels in the region of the angular gyrus[^2]. Thus, the Chater point serves as an extracranial landmark to determine the posterior end of the Sylvian fissure[^1].
