The Chamberlain line is an imaginary line in a sagittal CT or X-ray images for the assessment of the dens.
Definition
The Chamberlain line connects the posterior end of the hard palate with the opisthion[^2].
Interpretation
Less than 3 mm of the dens should be above this line. An exceeding of the dens by more than 6 mm of this line is considered definitely pathological[^1]. On CT[^3] and MRI[^4] images, the dens is on average 1.4 mm (± 2.4 mm) below this line.
