The Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI or brainstem implant) is a device intended to restore hearing in select patients with hearing loss.

Function

The Auditory Brainstem Implant bypasses the Vestibulocochlear nerve and directly stimulates the cochlear nucleus via an implanted electrode.
