RANO Criteria for High-Grade Gliomas

The RANO Working Group continuously adapts radiological criteria to measure treatment effects in various brain tumors and make them comparable under clinical trial conditions1. The following table of RANO criteria applies to high-grade gliomas

Criterion Complete Response Partial Response Stable Disease Progression
MRI T1 contrast enhancement Not detectable Reduction of ≥ 50 % Reduction < 50 % but < 25% increase Increase of more than 25 %
MRI T2/FLAIR Stable or ↓ Stable or ↓ Stable or ↓ Stable or ↑
New lesions No No No Detectable
Corticosteroids None Stable or ↓ Stable or ↓ N/A
Clinical status Stable or ↑ Stable or ↑ Stable or ↑ ↓
Required for response All criteria All criteria All criteria At least one criterion
