STICH II Trial

The STICH II study was published in 2013[^1]. The results showed that early surgical intervention for hematoma evacuation in superficial Lobar hemorrhages (10-100 mL) without intraventricular extension did not increase the risk of death or disability and resulted in a small survival benefit.

Authors' interpretation

The STICH II results confirm that early surgery does not increase the rate of death or disability at 6 months and might have a small but clinically relevant survival advantage for patients with spontaneous superficial intracerebral hemorrhage without intraventricular hemorrhage.[^1]
