Uncovertebral joint

The uncovertebral joints are found in the cervical spine.

Development

The initially flat-lying uncinate processes begin to become more upright during childhood. Between approximately the 5th and 10th years of life, cleft formation occurs in the cartilage, taking on joint-like characteristics. Thus, the uncovertebral joints are not present primarily but develop secondarily.[^1].
