The subarachnoid space is a slit-like space in the Brain and Spinal cord between the two meninges, the arachnoid mater and pia mater. The subarachnoid space is filled with Cerebrospinal fluid and is also referred to as the external CSF space. It communicates with the Ventricular system, which is referred to as the internal CSF space.
