The spinotectal tract is an ascending bundle of nerve fibers in the Spinal cord that carries epicritic and protopathic information to the tectum of the midbrain.
Anatomy
The axons enter the dorsal horn of the gray matter of the spinal cord via the posterior spinal ganglion and synapse there with the next neuron. The fibers cross to the contralateral side via the anterior white commissure and then ascend within the anterolateral tract. The fibers of the spinotectal tract lie close to the Lateral spinothalamic tract.
Function
The spinotectal tract is responsible, for example, for Miosis in response to pain[^1].
