The lateral spinothalamic tract is an ascending fiber pathway in the lateral Spinal cord and belongs to the anterolateral system.
Anatomy
The fibers of the spinothalamic tract primarily transmit protopathic sensations (pain and temperature) to the Thalamus. The fibers of the lateral spinothalamic tract cross at the segmental level through the anterior white commissure to the contralateral side.
