The spinal canal is formed by the vertebral arches and the dorsal surfaces of the vertebral bodies, and forms the canal within the vertebral column.
Clinical relevance
A pathological narrowing of the spinal canal is referred to as Spinal canal stenosis and is one of the most common neurosurgical conditions.
