Sacral hiatus

The sacral hiatus is the caudal opening of the sacral canal of the Os sacrum

Anatomy

The sacral hiatus is located approximately at the level of the fourth sacral vertebra. Laterally, it is bounded by the two sacral cornua, the cornua sacralia[^1].

Clinical relevance

The sacral hiatus is used as a puncture site for a Sacral block .
