Precuneus

The precuneus is a rectangular cortical area of the medial parietal lobe that can be visualized in the midsagittal plane.

Anatomy

Anteriorly, the precuneus is demarcated from the paracentral gyrus by the Cingulate sulcus. Posteriorly, the precuneus is demarcated from the Parieto-occipital sulcus Cuneus

Function

Various functions are attributed to the precuneus, including highly integrated tasks such as visuospatial imagery and retrieval of episodic memory[^1].
