The precuneus is referred to as a rectangular cortical area that can be visualized in the midsagittal section of the median parietal lobe.
Anatomy
Anteriorly, the precuneus is demarcated from the cingulate sulcus by the paracentral gyrus. Posteriorly, the precuneus is demarcated from the parieto-occipital sulcus from the cuneus.
Function
Various functions are attributed to the precuneus, including highly integrated tasks such as visuospatial imagery or retrieval of episodic memory[^1].
