The pontine nuclei are clusters of neurons located in the pons within the brainstem and are involved in the regulation and learning of motor activities.
Anatomy
The pontine nuclei receive their afferent inputs from the primary motor cortex and project from there via the middle cerebellar peduncle as transverse pontine fibers to the cerebellum.
Function
The pontine nuclei are presumably involved in the correction of motor tasks and the learning of new movement patterns[^1].
