Paresthesia

Paresthesia refers to an abnormal sensation in the distribution of a cutaneous nerve without any identifiable adequate physical stimulus. Affected individuals usually describe it as tingling, a "pins-and-needles" sensation, a numb or cotton-wool feeling, prickling, itching, a sensation of swelling, or sensitivity to cold or heat.
