Synonyms: Nucleotomy

Nucleotomy refers to part of the surgical procedure performed during surgery involving an intervertebral disc. During a nucleotomy, part of the nucleus pulposus, the nucleus of the intervertebral disc, is removed. A nucleotomy is not necessarily required for every Herniated disc.
