Meralgia paresthetica

Meralgia paresthetica is the compression syndrome of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve[^1].

Etiology

In most cases, the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve is compressed as it passes through the inguinal ligament at the anterior superior iliac spine.

Symptoms

Meralgia paresthetica causes numbness and pain on the lateral thigh of the affected side. Since the nerve is purely sensory, meralgia paresthetica does not cause any motor deficits.
