Mantle edge

The mantle edge refers to the nearly right-angled transition from the convex part of the neocortex to the medial surface of the hemispheres, in the region of the fissura longitudinalis.

Clinical relevance

A process such as a tumor in the region of the mantle edge causes paresis of the contralateral leg. If a significantly space-occupying process involving the contralateral mantle edge develops, bilateral flaccid leg paresis may also occur.

Mantle-edge tumor

A tumor in the region of the mantle edge is also referred to as a mantle-edge tumor.
