Insular Glioma

Insular gliomas are considered brain tumors from the group of gliomas, which grow within the insula of Reil. Insular gliomas primarily become symptomatic through epilepsy[^1]. Due to their anatomical location, insular tumors are among the most surgically challenging brain tumors.

Imaging

The gold standard in imaging of insular gliomas is MRI imaging. Other modalities such as functional MRI imaging can help depict language areas for surgical planning. Also, DTI sequences for intraoperative fiber tracking can be very helpful[^2].
